Those who choose to attend the 2019 AACS Body Cadaver Workshop will review a series of lectures and dissections focused on patients who have undergone bariatric surgery and have had massive weight loss. These patients require unique, and more often more complex pre-operative planning and surgical intervention. A significant discussion on brazilian butt lift and the recent concerns regarding mortality will be discussed, and safe techniques for this procedure will be included. The recent consensus by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery will be presented. Patient safety will be a major topic of discussion regarding this procedure.

Topics covered include:

  • Body contouring after massive weight loss
    • Belt lipectomy, extended brachioplasty, posterior lift, breast & tummy tuck surgery, transaxillary approach for breast augmentation and arm reduction
  • Brazilian Butt Lift safety
    • AACS and the ABCS will share and discuss a joint consensus regarding Brazilian Butt Lifts

Target Audience:
Physicians interested in learning more about body contour surgery after massive weight loss should plan to attend this course. Traditional procedure including breast lift surgery and abdominoplasty surgery will be discussed, along with more specialized procedures including fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty, auto-augmentation breast surgery, and posterior and circumferential body lift procedures. The use of a propulsion pump and mechanical agitation/suction devices in BBL will be demonstrated.

This fresh cadaver course will focus on advanced eyelid topics often encountered in an aesthetic eyelid practice. The attendee will gain experience in understanding the anatomy, indications for treatment, and perform the surgical technique under the guidance of experienced oculoplastic experts. Topics covered include: fat grafting to the orbit, correction of eyelid ptosis with Mullerectomy and Tarsal Repair, correction of entropion and ectropion, treating malar festoons, and orbicularis muscle sling procedures.

The Facelift portion of the workshop will feature cosmetic surgeons who will provide the opportunity to learn basic safe facelift techniques and deep plane facelift.
