Description of Program: RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Care offers a General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Program, which includes a high volume of all types of cosmetic breast surgery, major body contouring, post-bariatric surgery, advanced liposuction and fat transfer, and body implant surgery. Fellows also work with co-faculty who perform over 175 facial cosmetic surgery procedures. The average fellow is directly involved in over 500 cosmetic surgical procedures over the course of the program.

RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Care is located in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) of South Texas, very close to South Padre Island. We operate 2 busy clinic locations: one in Edinburg and one in Brownsville (1 hour apart). Surgeries are performed in our state-of-the-art clinic in Edinburg, which houses 2 full ORs and recovery suites.

In addition to the cosmetic surgery component of the practice, RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Care is one of the largest varicose vein clinics in South Texas, performing over 400 endovenous ablation procedures and 1000 micro-phlebectomy procedures per year. Interested fellows will have the opportunity to satisfy the criteria of the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) for Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) and Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).  This fellowship is ideal for general, vascular or cardiothoracic surgeons seeking to transition into varicose veins and cosmetic surgery.

Our clinics also provide comprehensive medspa services and our nurse injector performs over 1400 non-surgical aesthetic injectable procedures per year in addition to laser hair removal and other treatments performed by our certified laser technician.

Fellows are involved with all components of the cosmetic surgery practice and patient-care, including consultation, pre-op marking, surgery, post-operative follow up, treatment of complications, and practice management. Didactic lectures are given on most Wednesday afternoons. Oral questioning and instruction are given throughout year. A reading list and written guidelines will be sent to the fellow who accepts the position.

There is a $30,000 per year stipend. One fellow is accepted per year (beginning July 1 each year). The program is one year with vacation as per AACS guidelines.
