Advocacy Support

Speaking with one voice, AACS and our partner organizations, the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and The American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery have your back. We are on the front lines advocating for your right to practice and to advertise.

National Level:

Representation with the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates and Young Physicians Section. The House of Delegates (HOD) is the legislative and policy-making body of the American Medical Association. Since 2000, Tony Geroulis, MD has served as the AACS first delegate while Robert Jackson, MD serves as the alternate delegate. Dr. Jackson is also Vice Chair of the Section Council for Plastic, Reconstructive and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS) advocates for issues important to physicians under 40 years of age or within the first eight years of practice after training. Since 2021, Kamran Dastoury, MD is the AACS representative.

State Level:

The AACS Advocacy Committee and our partner organizations monitor proposed state legislation and react quickly to any new regulation that could restrict cosmetic surgery scope of practice or the ability to freely advertise.  AACS members are educated on matters of public policy and inspire engagement and action either by email or in the quarterly member newsletter, The Consult.
