Accomplishing our Goal for More and Better Education - Now What?

As our surgical busy season winds down, the Academy gears up for many exciting events. For starters, the 2015 Annual Meeting in New Orleans was a huge hit, and a great deal of its success can be attributed to the impressive lineup of speaker presentations. We're already eager to know who we'll hear and what we'll learn at the next meeting. If you're interested in presenting at the 2016 Annual Meeting, which will be held in Hollywood, Florida, Jan. 14-16, 2016, the Call for Abstracts is now open. Presenters will receive a discount on meeting registration, which will open in July, as well as notable experience to add to a professional CV. Review the list of topic areas on the website, and submit your abstract for consideration by June 12. We look forward to receiving and reviewing your submissions.
I'm also excited for our many educational events outside of the annual meeting, like our Live Surgery Workshops and our recently launched WebClinics. These live CME webinars are a convenient way to earn CME and stay up-to-date on cosmetic surgery techniques and best practices. Hosted by cosmetic surgery experts from a number of specialties, expect top-notch training on a variety of topics, beginning with a three-part series on Practice Management that starts in June. These live educational webinars typically last an hour, can be accessed by your desktop or mobile device, and will offer live Q & A. I hope you find these not only convenient, but also a powerful tool in advancing your practice and career.
Lastly, the AACS Board of Trustees and the Sentergroup administrative staff will convene in Chicago this weekend to conduct our strategic planning session and Board of Trustees meeting. This will be a pivotal meeting for our leadership to determine the future direction of the Academy and to identify and implement short- and long-term goals. Please contact a board member, myself, or any of the Sentergroup staff to express any concerns or recommendations regarding the future direction of the Academy. We value everyone's suggestions and look forward to hearing from you. I'll be eager to share the outcome of our strategic meeting with the membership later this summer.
I hope you all had a safe, healthy, and happy Memorial Day holiday.
