June 2019 President's Letter
Friday, June 14, 2019
Dear friends and colleagues,
I hope this letter finds you well as summer starts and we begin a busy season full of opportunities for you to learn new techniques and enhance your practice. No matter what your availability or interest, our schedule for the rest of this year will certainly have something for you.
If you want to review the basics of cosmetic surgery, or if you are taking a board exam this year, the Board Review Course August 10-11 in Chicago is a great way to re-familiarize yourself with best practices and fundamentals. If you are interested in hands-on education led by experts, we are offering a Facial Cadaver Workshop at Duke University on October 5 with Julie Woodward as well as bringing back the popular Sculpting for Surgeons workshop that teaches human anatomy through art on September 5 before the World Congress on Liposuction.
Of course, the World Congress on Liposuction itself will be one of the highlights of the year, as we gather together leading experts in liposuction and body sculpting for two days of educational sessions. Don't forget to register before prices increase on July 15!
Finally, I have some news to share regarding the leadership of AACS. Our Executive Director Dan Garrett, CAE is moving to Washington, DC to pursue a new opportunity as the executive director of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. Our management firm, Sentergroup, will be conducting a search for a new permanent successor to Dan. During the search, Erin Berggren, CAE and Craig Sondalle from Sentergroup will jointly serve as interim AACS Executive Director and provide strategic guidance and operational support to the AACS staff team.
There will be no changes to the way AACS operates day-to-day, though we will certainly miss Dan and his excellent leadership. I would like to thank him for his dedication to AACS over these past four years.
