Dear friends and colleagues,

I am honored to be addressing you for the first time as the new President of AACS. I will be succeeding Dr. Suzan Obagi, who I want to recognize for her tireless work this past year. Suzan did an outstanding job and has been an inspiration to all of us in our collective efforts to shape and advance the field of cosmetic surgery. I hope to continue to build upon our academy's success, leading us to a bright future.

In 2019, I will be focused on the following goals:

  • Patient safety. We will continue to work with ABCS to create and communicate patient safety standards, including our latest work on safe fat transfer and buttock augmentation.
  • Advocacy and outreach. In May 2018, the AACS Board of Trustees established a strategic plan and advocacy committee to work in the interests of our members, especially in defending their right to promote their training and board certification. I will continue to support that committee in their efforts.
  • Training the next generation. As a graduate of an AACS certified Fellowship Program in 2009, I know firsthand how valuable hands-on training from the experts can be. Our goal is to expand the Fellowship Program and train the next generation of outstanding cosmetic surgeons.
  • Education. With on-demand WebClinics, workshops, and two upcoming conferences, the World Congress on Liposuction this September in Chicago and the 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting in Las Vegas, our members will retain access to the latest training and updates in the field.

I am certain that with these goals, AACS will continue to represent the best of cutting-edge cosmetic surgery. I hope you will remain excited and motivated to join me this year in advancing AACS's platform. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Let's have another great year!

Sincerely,

Chris Lowery, DO
AACS President
