The 31st Annual Scientific Meeting for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery is Jan. 14-17 in New Orleans, one of the country's most vibrant and culturally-rich cities. Over four days, you will have time to not only learn and discover new techniques and technologies to further your practice of cosmetic surgery, but also to take in some of the sights and sounds of the Big Easy.

Here are 7 experiences to add to your Annual Scientific Meeting itinerary:

  1. Step inside Jackson Square, the heart and soul of the French Quarter, where you'll find a statue of Andrew Jackson and a collection of artists and fortune-tellers. Located there, the onetime courthouse is now the flagship of the Louisiana state museum, showcasing Living with Hurricanes: Katrina and Beyond, a fascinating exhibit on the infamous storm.
  2. Grab a cocktail at Ogden after Hours on Thursday night, when local musicians play while patrons dance, drink and mingle in the art galleries of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art
  3. Explore the National World War II Museum, consistently ranked as one of the top "must-dos" for New Orleans, housing an impressive collection of artifacts and educational films documenting all aspects of the war.
  4. Sip on a cocktail made by famed mixologist Chris Hannah at French 75, part of Arnaud's Restaurant in the Quarter; or stop in the Carousel to sip on a Sazerac at the Hotel Monteleone's famed revolving bar.
  5. Stroll through the Garden District (located less than 3 miles southwest of the French Quarter) for a peek at some of the city's most beautiful homes.
  6. Eat a beignet at Café du Monde, the most famous spot for the hot, sugared product. If the line's too long, keep the nearby Café Beignet, as well as the City Park location of Morning Call Coffee Stand, in your back pocket.
  7. Take a trip to the Warehouse district, a culinary hotbed, with top-tier restaurants like the Link Restaurant Group's Cochon and Peche, Emeril Lagasse's flagship restaurant Emeril's New Orleans, and Adolfo Garcia's steakhouse La Boca.

From the scenic and vibrant backdrop of our host city, to the special events and advanced education offered in the program, you don't want to miss the 31st Annual Scientific Meeting.
