Title: “Principles of Transumbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA)"

Presenter: Ehab Akkary, MD, FACS, FASMBS, FAACS

Target Audience: Intermediate

Description:

Transumbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA) is an underutilized procedure that continues to decline with the preferential use of silicone over saline implants and the relatively high learning curve. Therefore, TUBA is not part of many practices and often not even discussed as an option.

This presentation will address proper patient selection, technical pearls and standardized techniques to perform TUBA, and management of complications.

This activity is designed for cosmetic surgeons. Upon completion of the activity, attendees will be able to:

  • Discuss the indications and contraindications of TUBA
  • Describe proper patient selection criteria
  • Propose a standardized approach to perform TUBA
  • Explain the regulatory aspects of TUBA
  • Diagnose and manage complications of TUBA
