Title: “HA Fillers: Facial Artistry and Treatment of Mild, Moderate & Severe Complications"

Presenter: Kevin Kalwerisky, MD, FACS, FAACS

Target Audience: Intermediate

In-office treatments using hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers continues to increase in popularity throughout cosmetic clinics world-wide.  Despite the relative ease of administration, HA fillers are associated with a multitude of complications ranging from the relatively minor to the devastatingly severe.  These complications can be due to the physical properties of the individual filler materials, a lack of relevant anatomic knowledge, poor injection techniques or some combination of all of the above.  This presentation aims to help injectors understand the full spectrum of possible HA filler-related complications, how to recognize complications at the earliest stage possible and how to appropriately treat complications in order to minimize patient morbidity.

This activity is designed for cosmetic surgeons. Upon completion of the activity, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the full range of complications associated with Hyaluronic Acid fillers.
  • Distinguish between mild, moderate and severe complications.
  • Manage the full spectrum of HA filler-related complications with rapid recognition and effective treatment.
