Title: “The Lateral Canthus: Where We Err and How You Can Make it an Enjoyable Part of Your Lower Blepharoplasties"
Presenter: Wade Brock, MD, FACS
Target Audience: Advanced
It is often assumed that adjusting the lateral canthus will be a simple and quick part of cosmetic eyelid surgery. This assumption can often lead to frustration, longer surgery time and poor results.
Attendees of this webclinic will better understand the anatomy of the lateral canthus, desirable and undesirable outcomes when altering the lateral canthus, and have tools in which to address the lateral canthus in order to meet the individual needs of the patient, maintaining or restoring normal function and desired cosmesis.
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the anatomic structures of the eyelid
- Apply the surgical techniques presented
- Distinguish intra-operatively whether they have achieved the desired endpoint or whether they need to make an adjustment prior to the end of surgery
- Manage complications of the primary surgery
- Conclude that the lateral canthus is complex in anatomy, function and appearance, but it can be effectively and predictably altered in most cases in an efficient and reliable manner
