Transumbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA) is an underutilized procedure that continues to decline with the preferential use of silicon over saline implants and the relatively high learning curve. Therefore, TUBA is not part of many practices and often not even discussed as an option.
This presentation will address proper patient selection, technical pearls and standardized techniques to perform TUBA, and management of complications.
At the end of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the indications and contraindications of TUBA
- Describe proper patient selection criteria
- Propose a standardized approach to perform TUBA
- Explain the regulatory aspects of TUBA
- Diagnose and manage complications of TUBA
About the Presenter:
Dr. Akkary completed his General Surgery Residency training in Michigan and then completed two Fellowship training programs: Bariatrics & Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Yale University, New Haven, CT, and Cosmetic Surgery at Shumway Cosmetic Surgery Institute, San Diego, CA. Dr. Akkary is Board Certified in Cosmetic Surgery by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, Board Certified in Facial Cosmetic Surgery by the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Dr. Akkary is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery in the state of California as well as Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of General Surgery in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Akkary Surgery Center is also AAAHC certified.
