|Lionel D. Meadows, MD|
Meadows Surgical Arts
Description of Program: Dr. Meadows offers a General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Program, which includes direct involvement in over 750 surgical procedures over the course of the program. The fellowship covers all types of cosmetic breast surgery, major body contouring, liposuction, and major facial cosmetic surgery procedures.
The fellows are involved with all aspects of a cosmetic surgery practice. Working closely with the physician, office administrators, and marketing director, fellows will be equipped with the knowledge for their own practice. Fellows are directly involved with patient care including: consultation, pre-op, marking, surgery, post-operative follow up, treatment of complications, and practice management. There is daily instruction and teaching with most patients, and the typical surgical case log is an average of 3 patients under general anesthesia for major surgery every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Oral questioning and instruction are given throughout the year. A reading list and written guidelines will be sent to the fellow who accepts the position.
The main location is in a large AAAHC accredited facility in Commerce. Fellows have an office with access to an extensive library. Two full-time physicians on site, and the fellows have access to other faculty nearby. One main hospital is also used for breast reductions.
There is a $30,000 per year stipend, paid malpractice up to $5,000, and one annual facial plastics conference. One fellow is taken per year.
Prerequisites for Fellows: Fellow must qualify per the AACS fellowship guidelines. They must be able to obtain an unrestricted Georgia medical license and obtain personal malpractice insurance through Medical Protective’s program designed for AACS fellows.
