With only two months remaining in 2017, our AACS Board of Directors recently met to discuss several important year-end updates. I am pleased to announce our Board of Directors passed the 2017-2018 fiscal year budget. Because of the diligence of our leadership, members, and the overall success of AACS educational programming, events, and membership services, we ended the 2016-2017 fiscal year with a healthy surplus, ending our second successful fiscal year on solid financial ground.
Financial gain is not our only accomplishment, we also have an 89% member retention rate. It is my belief that our expert education, events, and sense of community, makes AACS an organization that both I, and my fellow members, want to remain a part of. AACS is growing, and making a larger impact in the cosmetic surgery industry, ending 2016-2017 with 1,675 members. If you haven't already, I encourage you to renew your membership in continued support of AACS.
As we look to the future, be sure to mark time in your calendar to attend our upcoming 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting in Las Vegas, February 1-3. I encourage you to register before this coming Tuesday, October 31, to save with early registration rates.
Our 2018 meeting will feature a series of 90-minute Master Class Sessions taught by cosmetic surgery masters specializing in all aspects of cosmetic surgery, including body contouring, complex breast surgery, fat transfer, skin resurfacing, and more. Our expert education doesn't stop there, Paul Nassif, MD, FACS; Zannah Hackett, PhD; and Weldon (Don) Havins, MD, JD, LLM, will be sharing their valuable insights with you as featured keynote speakers. Finally, we have two pre-conference workshops—a body cadaver workshop and a non-invasive/neuromodulators workshop— also open for registration.
Speaking of education, I also want to take this opportunity to remind you to register for our final 2017 WebClinic, "Facial Implants" led by AACS board member, Joe Niamtu, DMD, on November 7. If you are interested in presenting an AACS WebClinic next year, we welcome your application through October 31.
In closing, I am proud of our 2016-2017 year-end accomplishments as an organization, and I look forward to our upcoming events and growth in 2018. I'd like to thank our dedicated Board of Directors, committee members, and staff, for all the hard work that resulted in higher membership retention and a great fiscal outcome.
Michael Kluska, DO
