Take Advantage of AACS' One-Stop Live Surgery Workshops

With the recent completion of our 2016 WebClinics schedule, the educational program from the Academy in its new entirety is comprehensive and robust. Completing and meeting your educational requirements has never been more simple. I encourage you to explore all of the Academy's educational offerings, as I am confident that you will gain nothing short of the best from every webinar, workshop session, and social dinner that you attend.

In just two weeks, May 13-15, our next Live Surgery Workshop will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Chad Deal, MD, Carey Nease, MD, and Vincent Gardner, MD, have prepared an impressive program that you can read through on the AACS website. The session topics are wide-ranging and cover some of the most popular procedures in cosmetic surgery today, including liposuction and fat transfer, Vaser techniques on the fibrous patient, laser skin resurfacing for the hands, fillers and toxins, minoraplasty and majoraplasty, and practice management best practices, to name a few.

I can't stress enough how beneficial these workshops are for the relevancy and overall success of your practice. The in-depth, personal instruction will keep you ahead of the latest trends and technologies in the industry, while providing you with a space that encourages questions and open discussion. I trust that if you can set aside the weekend of May 13-15 and join your colleagues in Chattanooga for 21st Century Cosmetic Surgery Practice - Combining State of the Art Technologies with State of the Art Techniques, you'll return to your practice feeling informed and invigorated, ready to take on the new challenges and patients that come your way.

On another note, our Annual Meeting Committee is already working tirelessly to ensure that our 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting in San Diego, February 9-11, is a great success. In fact, our Call for Abstracts is now officially open. Presenting at the conference is a great way to not only add speaking experience to your professional CV, but to also share with your colleagues your own ideas and expertise. Explore the topic areas on the AACS website and submit your abstract by July 11.

Under the direction of Victoria Karlinsky, MD, Chairperson of the General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Review Committee, I'm proud to report on three very successful Core Curriculum Review Meetings, held in webinar format. These webinars are intended to provide an interactive educational opportunity for the participants, composed primarily of Training Fellows. In March, Training Fellow Robert Dragotti, DO, presented a very concise overview on breast augmentation, and Suzan Obagi, MD, presented part two of her master lecture on chemical peels. This month, Training Fellow Andre Guerrero, MD, DDS, presented a very comprehensive lecture on rhinoplasty. Next month, on May 18, Training Fellow Courtney Wold, MD, will present her lecture on body contouring after massive weight loss. If you'd like more information on the Core Curriculum Review Meetings, please contact the AACS Coordinator, Margaret Bengtson at mbengtson@thesentergroup.com.

I appreciate your time and attention, and I look forward to getting in touch again soon.

Sincerely,

Robert A. Shumway, MD, FACS
President
