Frequently Asked Questions
- What are the eligibility requirements?
The fellowship program is offered to any physician who has completed a formal residency in General Surgery, Otolaryngolgoy/Head and Neck Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery (MD/DDS), Gynecologic Surgery, Ophthalmology Surgery or equivalent ACGME-recognized residency training program.
- Is there an application fee?
No.
- Where do I send my application?
Send all application materials directly to the program which you are applying to. Any specific questions regarding the program should be directed to the program director.
- Can I apply to more than one program at a time?
Yes. You must fill out an application for each program you are applying for and send it to each program director.
- What is the deadline for applying?
Fellowship programs are for a one year period from June 30 - July 1 of the following year. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and each program director makes the decision when a training fellow is chosen. AACS recommends applying for a program one year in advance.
- Can I participate in a program for more than one year?
The official fellowship program runs for a one year period from June 30 - July 1. If you wish to continue your program for another year, it may be considered and is a decision left up to each fellowship director.
- Is there tuition reimbursement or a stipend?
Each fellowship training program has its own policy regarding tuition reimbursement or stipends. Most programs offer some sort of compensation - please contact the program you are interested in for details.
- What do I have to complete to receive my certification of completion?
Each training fellow must have the following submitted before receiving a certificate of successful completion from AACS:- Verification form from fellowship director
- Evaluations from training fellow and fellowship director
- Surgical log of required cases
- Submission of article to American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery
- Do I have to be a member of AACS?
No. Fellowship training programs are open to any physician. Training fellows can apply for AACS membership at the Associate level to receive discounts at AACS meetings, the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery and additional membership benefits.
